A special friend recently had the unfortunate privilege of sitting through a diocesan Mass that included “liturgical dancing” and African drums. At the end of her report to me, she remarked matter-of-factly, “It is another religion, isn’t it?”Indeed, it is. And you do not need a degree in theology to draw this conclusion. Study the simple old Baltimore Catechism, read Holy Scripture, and then just scroll through the headlines on Vatican News or any other Catholic media outlet, and you too might say, “Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”Or, more accurately, we find ourselves in the Land of Apoztazy.
