In previous articles in this series (see here, here, and here) we looked at evidence for the relatively recent historical reality of Noah’s Flood. We also considered the physical processes that accompanied this cataclysmic chastisement. In order to make this series complete, it is important to consider the spiritual dimension of the Flood — which is its most important dimension as it marked a last-ditch wake-up call from God to souls that would otherwise have been eternally lost.

In the third chapter of his First Epistle, St. Peter wrote the following (v. 18-20) about the souls that perished in the flood:
