His homily at the Outreach conference for LGBTQ “Catholics” on June 20 came wrapped as a meditation on mercy, redemption, and holiness. But beneath the saccharine pretensions, McElroy was hiding a poisonous serpent.His theological vision was tragic in that all the talk of mercy and holiness came without the most important dimension: conversion. The result was a homily that employed the old modernist deception of using orthodox language while advancing a lie from the pits of hell.
