I wrote a long post about what I consider the joys of summer (according to me, a northeasterner) and why homeschool-as-desk-work should not be a year-round slog. (For that matter, you should absolutely give snow days off and are a monster who hates childhood if you don’t, but right now it’s May so let’s talk about summer.)>The other afternoon I was at my daughter’s house for a little knitting time with one of my granddaughters. My grandson, age 11, was on his bike. I asked him if he was done with school for the day and he said no, that he had one more math problem but he was taking a break because it was giving him trouble.
