Radical Fidelity – Latest Proposal for TLM is Offensive, Arrogant, and Misses the Point Entirely

Another day, another hare-brained scheme to solve the so-called “liturgical war,” one that not only tries to sneak in changes to the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) but again misses the point entirely.>A recent proposal, that only surfaced now, by Dom Geoffroy Kemlin of the French Benedictine Abbey of Solesmes, addressed to “Pope” Leo XIV in November 2025, seeks to resolve the long-standing liturgical conflict in the Church by creating a single Roman Missal containing two “ordinaries” of the Mass. On the one hand, the current form of the Mass promulgated after the Second Vatican Council would remain unchanged. On the other, the pre-conciliar rite, commonly called the TLM, would be inserted into the same missal but “modified” in certain respects to “align it more closely with the post-conciliar reform”.>If the idea should not be rejected for sheer dumbness alone, then these “modifications” should be reason enough. Kemlin’s proposed “modifications” include the introduction of the vernacular, permission for concelebration, the incorporation of multiple Eucharistic prayers, and the adoption of the reformed liturgical calendar and lectionary.
