Radical Fidelity – If You Still think Leo’s Visit to France was a Victory for Catholicism, His Latest Audience Should Convince You Otherwise

Much has been said and written about Robert Prevost’s recent visit to France, and I have already covered it over at Integrity Magazine in articles here and here, and in a podcast with my colleague Stephen Kokx. But if there was still any doubt left about what Leo XIV’s true dream for France—and humanity, for that matter—really is, then one has to look no further than his own meditation during yesterday’s General Audience to see that it has little to do with Catholicism and the Kingship of Jesus Christ, even though it was wrapped in Catholic-sounding language.Throughout his address, we saw Leo repeatedly speak of “rebirth.” Clearly intoxicated by his own PR, he waxed lyrical about France’s cathedrals, its young Catholics, its catechumens, Lourdes, Europe’s Christian roots, the modernist disciple of the heretic Jacques Maritain, Robert Schuman, and the reconstruction of Europe after the Second World War.
