The housewife must be clever, alert, and focused. There are complicated reasons not unrelated to feminism’s insistence, hand-in-glove with crony capitalism, that the norm today is for women to work. Living on one income, the only prudent plan for flourishing, is not easy, despite all our many advances.Contrary to some vague idea of a woman kept in luxury, oblivious of her means of support, eating bonbons in her feathery slippers and peignoir, while her husband slaves away, the mission of the housewife — at least, the housewife to whom I address myself — is to make the most of all the benefits so the family can flourish.
